Tours in San Pedro de Atacama

Mystic waters in the middle of the Atacama Desert. Chile.

Located a few kilometers from the town of San Pedro, in the north of Chile, the Puritama Hot Springs are a group of eight large pools of water at a temperature of 33.5 ºC. They are located at an altitude of 3,500 meters, in the middle of the Atacama Desert.

The space is minimally intervened and made accessible in harmony with the environment. Wooden walkways connect the eight pools and facilitate access for visitors. The place has the appropriate infrastructure to enjoy the varied properties of these thermal waters, just as the millenary Atacameño culture did from very early on.

The water of Puritama is an exceptional place in the middle of the driest desert in the world. We invite you to be part of this totally revitalizing experience.

Rejuvenation, Healing, Heat, and Minerals

What is thermal water? The dictionary definition indicates that it is any water which temperature exceeds the normal temperature by 15 or 16 degrees. The springs of Puritama are formed by waters that take temperature due to hot rocks that lie under the earth's surface, then flow out and are contained in wells. These waters, created in the laboratories of Mother Nature, are attributed healing powers that empirical science has not been able to understand.

The hot springs contain a unique combination of sodium, copper, lithium, magnesium, nitrates, calcium, and iodine, among other minerals, which help relieve the pain of arthritis, osteoporosis, chronic rheumatism, bronchitis, and other ailments.
