Stone Paintings of Hierbas Buenas
Long caravans of nomads traveled across the desert, crossing it from northwestern Argentina to the Pacific. They were stopping in some places to rest, feed their llamas, probably exchange products and leave messages for those who would come later. In these resting places, beautiful rock drawings have been found, representing herds of camelids, men with their feathered headdresses, domestic animals (dogs) and wild animals (flamingos, foxes, vizcachas), and even jungle animals, such as monkeys. These artists drew their history, representing their life and environment. There is a beautiful drawing, the so-called Dragon of two heads, which according to the shepherds of the area represents a llama giving birth.
