San Pedro de Atacama Tours
About 30km south of San Pedro de Atacama in the big Salt Lake Atacama you will find a number of lagoons. One of them is the lagoon Cejar, a lagoon of intense turquoise color and a white shore formed by the salt crystals. The water itself has a high concentration of salt what allows you to float in it with ease just like in the Dead Sea. If you keep moving south, you will get to the Eyes of the Salt Lake, two circular fresh-water lagoons. They are very deep as the ground sunk in and subterranean waters could make their way up.
In the trough of the Salt Lake there are various blue lagoons surrounded by white salt and calcium crystals, nourished by a complex hydrological system.
Observe these beautiful lagoons while a silent breeze moves the bushes and the sun is rising over the Andes Cordillera. Carefully, visitors approach the lagoon and they don not even leave footprints on the salted shore that surrounds the water like a white cape. This is how the amazing lagoons can be described.
The Eyes of the Salt Lake are have converted themselves into a strong touristic attraction. You can take a relaxing bath and feel the gravity effect of the salt minerals in the water. They are known as the lagoons Cejar and Tebinquinche. To get there, one must follow a sandy route, and on the way it is possible to find some native fauna of the Salt Lake. It is recommendable to travel with a guide due to the many crossing roads that make it difficult to find the correct route.
The geological formations of the mountains and adjacent terrains are evidence for the successive volcanic activities in the region. One of the volcanoes nearby is the volcano Eyes of the Salt, whose last eruption took place in 1956.
